The Hypocrisy of our Democracy

Chris Rock said it, I’m just quoting it. But when I wake up to a story like this, you can’t help but want to say “hmmmm”….

“Authorities said Andrew Joseph Stack III, 53, an Austin resident with an apparent grudge against the Internal Revenue Service, set his house on fire Thursday and then crashed a Piper Cherokee PA-28 into the building, which houses an IRS office with nearly 200 employees, federal officials said.

“We do not yet know the cause of the plane crash,” the Department of Homeland Security said in a release. “At this time, we have no reason to believe there is a nexus to terrorist activity. We continue to gather more information, and are aware there is additional information about the pilot’s history.” —

….so, let me get this straight. Intentionally flying a plane into a government building isn’t terrorism anymore?

In his stand up routine, Rock goes through all sorts of things that are totally fine when white people do it, but if a black or brown person tried it…. Go Directly to Jail, Do Not Pass Go. lol

“…can you imagine if the Philip Morris family was a bunch of Jheri Curled people from Mississippi? Do you know how illegal a pack of cigarrettes would be??”

“…White man makes guns, kills m-f’ers every day. It’s all right, because it’s all white. Black rapper says guns? Congressional hearing.”

So, CNN (and they’re not the only ones, a few different sources made every effort to make this primarily a suicide, not a terrorist attack), what makes this different? The fact that he had a written note instead of a video on Al Jazeera? Come on now… Now in no way am I discrediting the horrific and terrible significance of events like the 9/11 attacks. I think they should just call it what it is. Terrorism is terrorism, no matter what color the perp is. His intent was to terrorize. That’s what it means.
