Only thing better than a new book…

…is a new book that makes you think within the first 10 pages lol. Finished Augusten Burroughs’ “Dry.” last night, and this morning on the bus, I started on Milan Kundera’s “The Unbearable Lightness of Being”, and found this gem on page 8:

Einmal ist keinmal, says Tomas to himself. What happens but once, says the German adage, might as well have not happened at all. If we have only one life to live, we might as well have not lived at all.”

Kind of depressing at first glance, but think about it. Read it again. Should we define things as meaningful only if they’re recurring? Can a once in a lifetime event have any significance if it’s only defined by its transience? Does this apply to love? Happiness? Drama? Hardships? Anything?? I don’t know. but this is the existential tangle I found myself in on the bus ride to work this morning. Loves it. lol.

Must. Keep. Reading. :)
